OUR STORY

Alan Brett and Steve Pennington’s first journey began over 11 years ago, when they realised they couldn’t go out for a late Sunday lunch anywhere around Rochester. They realised as foodie’s and lovers of eating out with family and friends, they couldn’t be the only people who like to dine out late on a Sunday, and so the journey began of opening Oliver’s Bar & Restaurant. Shortly after Rochester Coffee Company fell into their and hands which they redeveloped and is now run by Alan’s daughter Abigail.

After a couple of years of establishing Oliver’s as the place to be in Rochester high street, after a long lunch (you can see where this is going) they saw a gap in the restaurant trade on Rochester high street for a Steak and Lobster house, this is when Brettingtons Steak and Lobster house became the next journey.

Now they have come together once again to open a Sushi restaurant (Sakana at 55) and a Fish restaurant (Fish at 55). The concept is simple: providing our customers with the best quality fish, in simple and classic ways. Since 2010, our focus has never changed, quality and responsible sourcing is still our main concern… we just look a bit more fancy now!

We are proud to say that we source most of our produce from Billingsgate Fish Market and our fisherman in Hythe, which is delivered in fresh daily.

If you love good food,

you’ll love Sakana at 55.

Quality and responsible sourcing is still our main concern

The best fish/sushi restaurant I have experienced. Superb addition to Rochester High Street. Thoroughly recommended.
